Dr Hizri holds both Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Master of Laws degrees from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). He was awarded the “Tan Sri Abdul Kadir Yusof Gold Medal” and “Wadah Niaga Award” for his outstanding academic achievements during the undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

In year 2006, he began his pupilage at Messrs Mohamed Ismail & Co under the tutelage of the late Adjunct Professor Dato’ Mohamed Ismail Mohamed Shariff. Commencing his legal career in May 2007, Hizri had a stellar career as a lawyer. In April 2015, he started his own practice under the name of Messrs Akram Hizri & Azad (subsequently changed to Akram Hizri Azad & Azmir).

Hizri has extensive experience in commercial dispute resolution and has represented various banks and financial institutions, corporations, GLCs, statutory bodies and individuals in a wide range of legal matters. He also appeared as counsel for other law firms at all tiers of the Malaysian courts. In terms of corporate work, Hizri has drafted numerous commercial-based documentations as well as being appointed as a consultant in regulatory impact analysis (RIA) to conduct study and propose legislative amendments to the relevant laws.

Apart from legal practice, Hizri has strong passion in legal education. He is engaged as part time law lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia to teach final year subjects such as civil advocacy, administration of estates and insolvency practice. he also conducts training and workshop for the Bar Council and State Bar Committee in the area of Islamic finance litigation. He is also a member of the islamic Finance Committee (IFC), Bar Council.
