Muhammad Akram bin Dato’ Dr. Abdul Aziz

With a law degree from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Muhammad Akram bin Dato’ Dr. Abdul Aziz brings over a decade of legal experience to the table. Akram began his legal career in January 2009 as a pupil at Messrs Raja Darryl & Loh, under the mentorship of Mark La Brooy. Upon completion of his pupillage, he joined a prominent law firm in Kuala Lumpur, where he quickly ascended the ranks to become a Senior Legal Associate by October 2014.

A hands-on legal practitioner, Akram has a proven track record of managing and resolving complex legal matters. His extensive experience spans various areas, including tortuous claims, contractual disputes, land disputes, and insolvency. Throughout his career, he has represented a diverse range of clients—individuals, corporate entities, financial institutions, private foundations, and government bodies—in court hearings, full trials, and appeals, even at the apex level.

Over the years, Akram has honed a specialized expertise in Intellectual Property (IP) law. As a registered trademark, industrial design, and geographical indication agent under the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO), he is uniquely qualified to assist clients with a broad spectrum of IP matters. Akram is also authorized to represent clients in copyright registration and has successfully handled numerous IP registrations, objections, oppositions, assignments, and transfers. Additionally, he is well-versed in drafting and preparing key documents in the technology and cyber sectors, including technology transfer agreements, subject matter expert agreements, and collaboration/consultancy agreements.

Moreover, Akram has been an active member of the Intellectual Property Committee of the Bar Council since 2014, contributing his insights and expertise to the development of IP law and policies in Malaysia. He is regularly invited as a guest speaker and trainer at various legal forums, training sessions, and talks to share his knowledge on intellectual property and other legal matters with a wide range of audiences, including corporate entities, financial institutions, private foundations, and government bodies. His expertise in IP law has made him a sought-after voice in the industry.
