Ahmad Shamil Azad bin Abdul Hamid is a highly accomplished legal professional who graduated from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in 2008. Shortly after completing his degree, Shamil embarked on a distinguished career in the Malaysian Judicial & Legal Service. His first appointment was as a Senior Assistant Registrar at the High Court of Malaya, where he had the privilege of assisting the Honourable Dato’ Abang Iskandar Bin Abang Hashim, Judicial Commissioner (as His Lordship then was), and Honourable Dr. Badariah Binti Sahamid, who was presiding over criminal cases at the Shah Alam High Court.
During his tenure as Senior Assistant Registrar, Shamil honed his expertise in criminal litigation, gaining invaluable experience in the workings of the judicial system.
His passion for expanding his knowledge led him to voluntarily take on additional responsibilities, particularly in the area of insolvency law (bankruptcy). This proactive approach gave him a well-rounded understanding of legal mechanisms and procedures beyond the criminal law realm.
In May 2010, Shamil’s career took a new turn when he was transferred to the Sungai Siput (U) Magistrate’s Court, where he served as a Magistrate for five years. Throughout his tenure, he presided over numerous cases, further sharpening his skills and expertise in criminal law. His ability to apply the law with precision and fairness made him a respected figure in the legal community.
Driven by his lifelong ambition to run his own legal practice, Shamil made the decision to leave his judicial career and join forces with his long-time colleagues, Muhammad Akram and Hizri, to establish Akram Hizri Azad & Azmir.
As the Head of the Criminal Litigation Department, Shamil leads a team of skilled attorneys in managing and representing clients in various criminal matters, from investigations to court trials. He is also responsible for the day-to-day management of the firm’s branch office in Ipoh, Perak (serving as the firm’s Central Region office), ensuring the smooth operation and growth of the firm in this strategic location.
